here is matelea gonocarpa of the family asclepiadaceae:
whose flower arrangement is a simple umbel. this particular specimen was found near Mule Jail cabin, though it was passed by once before I realized that it was indeed a flower. it is a pretty flower once you notice it, but it does not stand out, as flowers go. this plant is a vine and I've only seen it creeping along the ground. this bloom was captured in May of 2009, but I have not noticed any since then.
