white blue-eyed grass

This is the third in the genus Sisyrinchium, Sisyrinchium albidum in the family of iridaceae:

and was found on April 4th of 2009 at the Brandon property.  A native to Canadia and the United S. of A.  S. albidum is not all that common relative to it's cousin, S. angustifolium.  White blue-eyed grass is an elegant little flower of the panicle arrangement.

This is, of course, yet another example of blue eyed grass, only not blue. this is a very pretty flower, smaller and less common around Jackson. this particular flower was found in late April at the second gate of Mule Jail. this little plant is native to North America.

here is iris fulva of the family iridaceae:

this particular specimen was found just off the Pearl River about a mile south of the reservoir in Jackson, Mississippi. i. fulva is native to North American. its flower is quite conspicuous being about 3 or 4 inches across. my brother James took this picture, using my camera.

there is Sisyrinchium angustifolium of the family iridaceae:


this flower was found along West Street, by the cemetery, in Jackson, Mississippi. this flower is said to bloom in the spring and summer months. this specimen was taken on march 20th 2007 at 4:52 pm. this is technically winter, however, it is well know that in Mississippi, winter generally ends the last week in february or the first week of march. it is also well known that Mississippi has very little influence upon the structure of calenders and delineation of seasons.
