sticky chickweed

here be cerastium glomeratum of the family caryophyllaceae:

found in Jackson, Mississippi in February of 2007. an introduce plant, this particular bloom is short lived and, from my experience, less common than many of the flowers i've showed you so far. unremarkable from a distance, small but not as small as its cousin. it has a certain beauty that the camera failed to capture. if, by chance, you find yourself in Jackson with some free time and a field available to you in early March, take a walk and keep an eye out for this plant.
