grape hyacinth

Here is the flower Muscari botryoides in the family liliaceae:



The flowers are in a raceme arrangement.  This plant was introduced from yonder and is classified as a weed, though it is a rather attractive.  I have seen examples of M. botryoides throughout Mississippi.  This example was taken in my front yard in Jackson, Mississippi on April 3 of 2010.  As a sample, it is less than prime, though I was unsatisfied with the other examples I have, I may replace this picture.
