lanceleaf plantain

This plant is called Plantago lanceolata of the family plantaginaceae:

and was found in Jackson, near UMC, growing where some sidewalk concrete had gone missing.  This photo was taken during the late afternoon on day in March of 2007.  This plant is invasive and quite successful being found throughout the US, Canada, even in Greenland.
